Last month my wife and I flew to Bosnia to visit my family. My wife is from USA, but in 2014 she spent a year living in Bosnia, where she was able to learn Bosnian language. Even though we’ve been trying to regularly speak Bosnian at home, she felt nervous about being able to communicate with my family and friends. I knew she would be fine for two very important reasons:
- She practiced with me, a native speaker
- Once she got to Bosnia, the immersion in the language and the culture would help her learn at a much faster rate
